Web
Graphics Resources
One of the most frequently
asked questions is: 'Can I use those clipart, templates, pictures
and graphics, etc. available on the web, especially some of websites
say they are 'free' to use?'
Every piece of design/ art that you see on the net is owned by
someone. The general rule is that, unless you find a statement
that clipart, graphics, templates or pictures are public domain;
you must assume that it is copyrighted and should not be used
without permission.
Terms of Use will be written
somewhere in the site, please do read the agreement before you
intend to use those graphic resources. Even when the web site
says 'free', it doesn't mean all the graphics are free. There
may be some limited 'free' offer, or it is only free to use for
personal use and not for commercial use, etc..
Guidelines and Tips:
1. Even if the web site says
'free' graphics, read the 'Terms of Use', 'Copyright' statements,
etc about the terms of using those graphics before you download
it and use those 'free' graphics resources.
2. To download the graphics
from the web, you can locate the cursor on the clipart or picture,
right-click your mouse or pointing device, select the image to
'save as' to save the image file onto your hard drive.
3. Always respect the copyright
of the original author and/or creator. One way you can do is to
ask the permission to use from the original author and/or creator.
4. If you are still confused,
you may consult your attorney. We are not attorneys. Nothing written
here is meant to be legal advice. The best is to consult professional
attorneys about the legal rights or copyright experience or knowledge.
If you choose to some kind
of software to generate your own graphics, here are some typical
ones:
1. Adobe
Photoshop
2. CorelDraw
3. Adobe
Illustrator
