email or unwanted email)
You may receive a lot of junk emails or spam from people you don't
know. As many people and marketers are using email to sell their
products and services, bombarding every single email inbox for
their advertisement. Unsolicited email (known as 'spam') is annoying
and time-consuming.
How the spammers get
hold of your email address? If you have ever made your
email address appear in public like newsgroup posting, on a website,
in a chat room, or in a online service's membership directory,
your email address will have higher chance get listed by the spammer
or list broker. Once the spammer found your email address, they
use special software to spam and send out thousands of unsolicited
email selling their products or services.

newsgroups and chat rooms,etc.
.:. Opt out of member directories for online services
if you don't really need them

.:. Use two email addresses - one for personal
messages and one for newsgroups, etc.
.:. Use an email filter to remove potential spam
.:. Uncheck the box to receive unnecessary email
from their 'partners' when you submit the form of a site
.:. Check the privacy policy when you submit
your address to a site, see if it allows the company to sell your
email address.
